One of our HostelSkills #2 panelists Samra Čomor, shared her views on additional services hostels could and should provide in order to bring both their business and the guests’ satisfaction to the next level.
When it comes to the services that are being provided it’s extremely important to have an excellent basic service, and that is something that we already know, but it’s needed, and demanded by the market, to be able to provide additional services to the guests. We’re not talking about free maps, welcome drinks or wifi here; we are talking about the next level of additional services.
These additional services can come in various forms and shapes, such as:
- pick up service that will be charged extra
- bike rentals (if there is storage to keep them safe)
- tours that can be organized so your guests will have to stay one more night
- souvenirs sale in the property, so the guests who forgot to buy some while touring around the city can get from you
All of these, and many more, can be done in your own arrangement, which will take some time. You can also try and create stronger connections with your local community and see what others are already offering and channel their service for commission and outstanding partnerships.
