As Trip Advisor says, „Cluj-Napoca is the unofficial capital of Transylvania, and though you (probably) won’t find vampires here, you can explore castles, fortresses, botanical gardens, museums and parks. Cluj-Napoca has a vibrant arts scene that embraces both the traditional and the progressive. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy classical concerts, theatrical performances, puppet shows and music of every genre, from jazz to modern pop to electronica.“ Out of many great accommodations you can find in lovely Cluj-Napoca, we’ve chosen the impeccably designed eclectic The Spot Cosy Hostel, and Tudor, the owner, shared some tips on how to make the most of your time in his city.
What makes your hostel unique?
Located in a historical house built in the ‘20s, it was restored with our own crafty hands in the second half of 2014. The result is sort of a perfect imperfection, with the feel of a boutique-design place. The rooms perfectly combine the specific, antique look with modern, comfortable beds and chic wardrobes. In the common area, you can find our living room – we’re positive that you’d never get tired of its countless surprises. By its side, there’s the hostel’s cute, fully equipped kitchen. The backyard wander is an 8600 square feet garden, full of the earth goodies and cosy hammocks, where all our guests can lay back and relax or enjoy one of our frequent outside cooking sessions.
What is the one thing that your guests like the most in your hostel?
We would say that most of our guests appreciate the chill out atmosphere and that all the details are handcrafted by our team, also our amazing garden and veggie garden.
What makes your destination/city a place everyone should visit?
It is the biggest university center in Romania (after the country’s capital), full of youngsters and a very active social life. It was voted the friendliest city for foreign people in Europe. It is also considered to have one of the best quality of life and living standards in Europe. In 2015, it has been the European Youth Capital. Our city is also the home of the best major festival in Europe 2015 – Untold Festival, the biggest film festival in Romania – Tiff, plus many other art and culture events.
What is the best time of the year to visit you?
All year around, we have a surprise prepared for each season.
What would you recommend to your guests as a must see/must do in your city?
Our botanical garden is a really beautiful place, like our central park where you can chill in our free hammocks and for the brave ones, at 10 minutes walk away from the hostel you can enter one of the top 10 haunted forests in the world. We are not responsible for any alien abductions 🙂
